Been waiting for this on Blu Ray forever. They just don't make them like this anymore. Love the audio commentary too. Was very interesting.
Good Movie
I like this movie but I didn't order it and I don't own it. So if it's under my name, it's Wrong?? Now I have to review all of my orders. Now, I said I like this movie. I don't think there's a huge audience of people who are 40 minimum are seeking it. However younger people, if you want to see what it takes to play Football for a living at that time. Then you will find it interesting, pay attention, there are things you've never seen! Fun movie, I like Football, and the violence and some childish characters are hilarious.
I read Pete Gents book and love the movie. It is listed as a comedy but I don't see the humor. Mis-labeled in my opinion
I'm not an avid sports fan but I really enjoyed this movie
Right up there with "Bull Durham" or "Slapshot", this movie is hilarious, but it's also down and dirty. Based on the book by Peter Gent, the viewer gets to see what really goes on behind the closed doors of the NFL, specifically the Cowboys, in the 70s. And I gotta tell ya, it really is remarkable how relevant this flick still is. For the most part, it could have been made today. I was thinking as I watched: "Well any NFL player who saw this movie back in the day sure wouldn't have been in the dark as far as what they were getting into." I guess a lot of 'em didn't see it, because now they're suing about some of the exact same stuff that's depicted in this movie.Nick Nolte is perfect for this role, and Mac Davis is a freakin' riot. The coaches, the higher-ups, everyone is spot-on. It seems like the character Ogre from "Revenge of the Nerds" was inspired by the characters Joe Bob and O.W. from this flick. It's fun to notice just how popular mustaches were back then, too, as just about every dude on the team has one.I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to see what could only be described as the antithesis of a Disney sports film.
Dunno why every Nick Nolte movie he is physically shot and is barely walking lol.Didn’t play the QB betrayal up enough.I’d thought that woulda been a huge part.Anything w Dabney Coleman is worth watching. He does the back stabbing douchebag better than anybody has
I am very pleased with all aspects of this purchase.
Still the best film about professional sport.Nick Nolte looking surprisingly slim before he bulked up and a host of 1970's looking pro footballers make this film look like a real football film should look like. The story is painful to watch, these big bears are treated so badly, by their need to perform, their obligations to their team mates, and the bullying coaches. It's like work, with people punching you.
Good movie worth watching
Took a couple of weeks to arrive, but no more than was stated - and boy, the film was well worth the wait. Good quality, subtitles, but, sadly, no special features due to honourable age of the DVD itself, likely. Overall, I'm satisfied.
